Steve Lathrop was born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska. After he graduated from Roncalli High School, he attended Creighton University in Omaha where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration in 1979 and a Juris Doctorate from Creighton University in 1981.
Steve knows Nebraska, it's people, and the values that make it so special. He is the proud father of four daughters. He enjoyed several years of coaching Ralston girls softball and Mary Our Queen soccer teams. He's been a member of St. Gerald Parish for nearly 20 years.
Steve is currently a Partner with the law firm of Hauptman, O'Brien, Wolf, and Lathrop. He is a member of the Nebraska State Bar Association, the Omaha Bar Association and the American Association for Justice. Over the past 25 years, he has been a fierce advocate for workers, businesses, and consumers.
Steve was elected to the Nebraska Unicameral in 2006, and reelected in 2010. He serves as the State Senator for the Omaha-based 12th Legislative District. He is the Chair of the Business and Labor Committee, the Vice Chair of the Judiciary Committee, and is also the Chair of the Developmental Disabilities Special Investigative Committee. He also serves on the Agriculture Committee, Rules Committees, and on the Executive Board of the Legislature.
